Two members of Wells Swimming Club overcame their chocolate- and mince pie- induced lethargy to compete in this first Long Course meet of 2018, held over two days at Hengrove Olympic pool in Bristol.
First up was Seth Allom who qualified for the tough Boys 12 year old Level 1 50m Fly. His spirited swim, close to his PB, saw him finish in 10th place.
Next up was Eloise Yeadon Caiger who won a gold medal for both the Level 3 100m fly (finishing first in her heat with a fast last 25m) and Level 3 100m breast (with a PB) and who qualified for the Level 1 50m Fly and back. She came close to her PB in the 50 back to finish in a creditable 15th place in a strong field but saved her best for the last swim of the meet the Level 1 50 fly where a determined swim gave her a PB and a 6th place finish.
A great start to the New Year for them both and performances that bode well for Wells’ chances at the up and coming Somerset County Championships.
