Wells Swimming Club at Somerset County Championships week 3

Wells Swimming Club have another Somerset Champion after more success at the 3rd weekend of this year’s County Championships at Millfield.

The Saturday started for Wells with the boy’s 200m free. In the 10-11 year category Thomas Maitland-Smith had a four second PB and finished in 16th, Kaleb Allom came 20th and Theo Truan-Thatcher 27th. In the 12 year Declan Truan-Thatcher qualified for the final as 3rd seed but couldn’t match his prelims time so missed out on the medals in 4th place. In the 13 year event Seth Allom’s 3 second PB saw him finished 9th as first reserve for the final an impressive four place rise up the seedings whist Cameron Taylor finished in 18th.

 

In the girls 100m breast Edie Richardson came 30th in the 13 year event and Maisie Banwell just missed out on the final finishing 9th.

 

In the 100 fly Declan Truan-Thatcher qualified for the final of the 12 yr old event and finished in 8th. In the 13 yr event Seth Allom finished in 13th two places up from his seeding.

In the 50 fly Asta Maddox swam confidently to get a 1 second PB and qualification for the final in the 10 to 11 yr old event as first seed. In the final she swam superbly getting yet another PB, finishing in first place over a second before the rest of the field, a great performance with which to be crowned as Somerset Champion 2018. In the same event Ailsa Richardson came 37th and Youyang Qu came 40th. Edie Richardson finished in 35th in the 13 year event. Whilst in the 14 yr event Maisie Banwell qualified for the final and despite a half second PB missed out on the bronze medal by a cruel 0.04 second! In the same event Tianna Allom swam strongly to get a 1 second PB and rise 5 places up the seedings. Katie Chambers moved up from her seeding in the 15 year and in the over 16s Eloise Yeadon Caiger and Emma Healey finished 28th and 41st resp.

 

 

The Sunday started with the 200 breast and in the 12 yr event Ailsa Richardson swam strongly to gain a 2 second PB and finish in 14th, 5 places up from her seeding. In the 13 year event Edie Richardson finished 22nd. Maisie Banwell qualified for the final of the 14 yr old event, where she swam faster than in the prelims and finished 6th. In the 15 yr event Katie Chambers finished in 22nd.

 

In the girls 100 free, Asta Maddox got a PB and qualified for the final in the 10 to 11 yr old event. Another great swim in the final saw her pick up the silver medal. In the same event Bliss Sumbler’s strong swim gave her a PB and 19th place.   In the 12 yr event Ailsa Richardson came 29th and Lizzie Chamber’s impressive 5 second PB saw her rise an amazing 15 places up the seedings to 30th. Edie Richardson came 32nd in the 13 yr event in a large field. Maisie Banwell in the 14 yr event moved up 2 places from her seeding and finished in 13th.   In the 15 yr event Katie Chambers came 41st, and in the over 16s Eloise Yeadon Caiger and Emma Healy came 21st and 24th respectively.

 

In the boy’s 50m back Max Banwell finished in 14th and Kaleb Allom in 15th in the 10-11 year event. In the 13 yr event Cameron Taylor dropped came 23rd, 4 places up from his seeding.

 

In the 400 free Declan Truan-Thatcher determination despite not being on top form paid off and he picked up the bronze medal in the 12 yr event. In the 13 yr event Seth Allom swam strongly to get a great 9 second PB and finish 6th whislt Cameron Taylor had a 4 PB and came 10th.
