With several swimmers tired from long haul flights and D of E expeditions Wells Swimming Club showed determination in Round 4 of the Cotswold League Series held at Cheddar when they came up against Backwell, Dursley and Bristol Penguins.
There were fantastic performances resulting in first places in the girl’s 15&U Individual Medley (Maisie Banwell), the men’s open IM (Matt Lewis), the girls 13&U 50m breast (Edie Richardson), the girls open 100m fly (Maisie Banwell), the men’s open 100m breaststroke (Matt Lewis), the girl’s open 100m free (Maisie Banwell) and the men’s open 100m free (Marcus Williams).
Valuable second places were achieved in the boy’s 15&U Individual Medley (Cameron Taylor), the men’s open 100m fly (Matt Lewis), men’s open 100 back (Robert Passmore), and the girl’s 15&U medley relay (Katie Chambers, Edie Richardson, Maisie Banwell and Lizzie Chambers), the boys 13&U 50m fly (Cameron Taylor), the boy’s 15&U 50m free (Robert Passmore) and the men’s open freestyle relay (Matt Lewis, Richard Thatcher, Alex Williams and Eli Myers).
Also making good contributions towards Well’s point’s total were Katrina Percival, Bliss Sumbler, Thomas Maitland Smith, Evelyn Wigley, Imogen Smith, Layla Matthews, Jack Freeman, Max Banwell, Lachlan Taylor, Theo Truan-Thatcher, Xanthe Knott, Izara Hole, James Hoddinott, Max Gittens,Roberta Bland and Eloise Yeadon Caiger.
Wells finished in third place and are now looking forward to finding out which final they will be in.
